Biographical sketch
|
As an undergraduate at Cornell University, Barbara's interest in
nutrition and the field of dietetics was fueled by her competitive career
as a NCAA tennis player and crew team (rowing) member. Upon
completion of her baccalaureate degree, her appetite for the study of
nutrition was not fully satisfied. The thirst for knowledge
continued throughout her studies at Boston University's Sargent College of
Allied Health Professions,
where she completed her Master's Degree in Nutrition with a concentration
in Applied Anatomy & Physiology.
After the successful completion of her dietetic registration in 1996,
Barbara has maintained the variety and spice in her career through the
balance of career choices. The variety includes; full-time employment
as the State Coordinator of Nutrition Education for the Massachusetts Department of
Education & Child Nutrition Programs; per diem work (5+ years) as an exercise
physiologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital; tennis coaching at
Wellesley & Lesley College; and grant-writing for the Boston Girls Tennis
Challenge; freelance nutrition consulting and
public speaking for Health Promotion Affiliates. In
addition, the spice continues to flow freely in her career as a nutrition
entrepreneur where she has gained valuable experience in the following
areas; sports nutrition consulting; eating disorder
counseling & prevention; school & college nutrition education
programming; supermarket health campaigns; marketing for
FOODPLAY! Productions; web development; advocacy & grant
writing for health initiatives (childhood obesity, school physical
education); school foodservice management; public speaking and broadcasting.
We welcome new challenges and opportunities. If you are
interested in additional information or services, please contact Barb
